I think rather than Doritos....there would be green bean casserole ads.....or at least the best green bean casserole cook in that particular assembly, demonstrate via video how to make the best green bean casserole.

Forget about football, or any other sports, eating.....green bean casserole offerings...

Now there's a concept.....

Hey Carol - you think that's bad? In Australia we have cricket matches (#1 sport in our Summer)that can last for 5 days! And, wait for it - some end in a DRAW!! Now that's a lot of Dorito's ads. So ... there goes church for the week (sigh). At least we don't have to listen to Madonna.

The cruel reality of things like this is I left a "Baptist" church exactly 10 years ago because of this very thing. The pastor announced they would cancel Sunday evening service on "Superbowl" sunday so the men could stay home and watch the game. Nevermind the fact that football is an idol among many believers, but when the "leaders" of a church cancel a service because of a football game, there isn't much reason to stay at such a place.

I do find it very amusing that the very day that this "pastor" made the announcement, the Steelers lost the play-offs, so that year the men who cancelled Sunday evening services watched a Steeler-less Superbowl!

Yes, God had His hand in the matter.

Showing Doritos ads between hymns, my, they are still singing hymns???? Not Holy Juggling with Clowns for Christ??? Wow, they are still a bit "conservative" aren't they????

Sorry - I can't laugh at this one. The only other allegedly "evangelical" church in Teddington, Middlesex, (the town where I minister) frequently cuts their Sunday evening service for such things as the Soccer World Cup, and so on.

They (the aforementioned Teddington Baptist Church) give a bad bad name to Biblical Christianity.
