I was in that group when this picture was taken (4th one in the middle row, eyes peeping at the camera) and I thought Brother Vincent did an outstanding job! Some people just look for things to criticize.

Dude, the problem is he started his run in the wrong key! He thought it was in Eb, but it was Bb. When he hit the A he was a half-tone sharp.

Notice … it was in cut time. So the problem was also that he did it too fast in contemporary style for their traditional slow chant.

What, this wasn’t “Gregorian Idol”? It was a short lived reality program at the Vatican for boys and young men to try out to become a Gregorian Monk….not many really wanted to give up the life of Riley….so they cancelled the show…

Yes, very good… I really don’t like those programmes, idolatry become aspirational!
However, as a confirmed pedant, and an ex-roman who attended a benedictine school, I would just like to point out that Gregorian chant has neither key signatures, time signatures nor bar lines…

I was waiting for the clunking of heads with their wooden commandment tablets. (obligatory Holy Grail reference)
