My armor of Bob needs to be spit shined every second. I think I will let the Great Tailor (Holy Spirit) fit me with Jesus. No more spit shining!

It cuts me, this one does. It cuts me deep. Maybe it can be one of God’s “blows that wound, cleansing away evil…”.

It’s when that protective breastplate is boastfully and awkwardly worn as a crown that we get into trouble.

Well…Galatians 4 something or other says that we “put on Christ in our Baptism”.
She looks as though she’s providing the water…and the word(s).

Indeed, we need not try to use our own “armor” in the spiritual battles, no amount of “spit shining” will keep that armor clean….only the Lord’s armor and the Lord’s shed blood will keep us able to fight the battle.
Interesting take on such an important point!

Good point Carol; I must admit Angus had me confused on this one. I know the Ephesian’s passage that the old fella used for the illustration but when I first saw it I thought that my own (so-called) breastplate of righteousness is always filthy too! I’ll settle for Jesus’ righteousness (imputed)- I know no other!! The ‘armour’ is actually ‘of God’ – no cleaning required. BTW you American dudes/dudettes – it’s ‘Australia Day’ here today (in Australia!!!). Please pray for us – a genuine revival would be nice!

Is Mrs Edgar familiar with imputed righteousness? She seems to be using filthy rags.. (rather than the blood that cleanses 1Jn1:7)
