Phil's mum...

It's funny you should use Luther to chastise Angus. You obviously are unware that Luther endorsed and even used scatological humor to make fun of the pope and the roman catholic church.

I would suggest you look into the 1545 Depictions of the Papacy. There you will find why you totally failed with your above post.

If you think Angus's humor is offensive, you don't know Luther at all.

Cheers!

I mean by "confront", to actually speak to the person face to face and engage his/her mind and heart with the definitions of terms and the actual authority of scripture over the catholic church and pope. We do this when the opportunity presents, and our relative in Mexico has been involved in ministry for years, winning many catholics there to Christ. Luther's fight was not only for right teachings, but freedom to believe them. We have this freedom now, and that's where our fight really is.

"It takes a great deal more courage to lovingly confront a Catholic priest or member with their own idolatry and with the truth than to dress up and burn a bag on their front step."

Yeah, that's kinda the point.

It takes a great deal more courage to lovingly confront a Catholic priest or member with their own idolatry and with the truth than to dress up and burn a bag on their front step. Let's keep our humour honouring to Christ. Luther had a valid reason for doing what he did, but there were thousands before him who died for holding the truth before he came along.

It's interesting that both Rev. Peter Reinhardt of the neighboring Christ Lutheran Church and Fr. Michael Donnelly have something in common. They both have titles before their names. Did the Reformation not run it's full course?
