The officer asked Dirtbag to put down his sword, which is the word of God, lest it should pierce even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and discern of the thoughts and intents of the woman’s heart.
How long before the sword is deemed to be an illegal weapon?…..

We don’t need Sharia Law in this country to “ban” the Gospel. We’ve got the post-modern “church, the “liberal” theologians, and Marxist “liberation theology” doing a superb job already!

@Lulu — Not to mention complacent “Christians” who are pretty sure they’re getting into Heaven because God loves them and has a wonderful plans for their lives.
-
Comment by Roger Castonguay — July 27, 2010 @ 7:20 am
@Chris, you don’t really know who’s getting into heaven do you? You can’t be sure of anything until the day comes. Do not be judgmental and make the allusion that complacent “Christians” will not get to Heaven. There are literally thousands of ways to worship a God or many Gods (pantheism) and nobody really KNOWS which is right and which is wrong. The important thing is to make a personal relationship with your God and not persecute those who you think are not worthy of Heaven.

Comment by Vaughan Smith — July 27, 2010 @ 7:38 am
Roger – does God get a say about who is worthy of Heaven?

Good cartoon. Our government is trying to force us into dhimmitude and now are enforcing the Pact of Umar here in the U.S.. Next thing you know we’ll have a devishme, oh wait, we have that. Kids attending public schools in California attend a Muslim day and recite the shahada. Isn’t godless multiculturalism grand?
The great tragedy is that Muslims are blinded by false teaching given by a false prophet.

Excuse me, Roger, but when you have this free for all religion there is only ONE way to the True God, not many ways as you seem to think. That kind of faith only makes people feel good about themselves as they are and no need for repentance and no need for a Savior, why are you here? Shame on you for telling us we are “judgmental” because someone dares to address those people who think God loves them and has a plan for their lives, and never mentioning the need of repentance or a Savior!

Roger, Please tell me you’re being sarcastic. Romans 16:17 says to; “Mark (identify & observe) those who cause divisions and offences CONTRARY TO THE DOCTRINE YOU HAVE LEARNED; AND AVOID THEM.” This is impossible to do unless you can know the truth. Marking those who walk contrary to the doctrine the Roman christians learned from Paul, is NOT persecuting them, however much they might like to claim so.
Jesus said; “You will know the truth and the truth shall make you free.” John (8:32)
To say that we cannot know the truth is to call Jesus a liar and therefore would definitely preclude entry to heaven. Sorry, but God’s Word says so. If you don’t like it take it up with Him, just make sure you can tell it’s really Him and not some impostor.
Oh, you need to know the truth to be able to do that too. Wooops! What a quandary!
If absolute truth is a myth, then all law is illegitimate, because there is no standard by which to judge right & wrong, just opinions, which sounds okay, unless you’re a Jew in Germany in the 1940’s.
Sorry if this seems a little terse, but I’m tired of people telling me God’s Word is unreliable. If everyone goes to heaven, I don’t want to. Imagine spending eternity with Hitler, Stalin, Pol Pot, Genghis Khan, the Marqui de Sade, etc, etc, etc.
Everyone believes in the concept of justice, then wants to put justice aside when it comes to eternity. How does that work exactly? I urge you to read the Bible and get to know the person who is the Way, the Truth, and the Life, Jesus Christ, the Saviour of the World. -

Roger;
The Bible disagrees with you. Jesus said,John 14:6
Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.Is that new?
As for “knowing” who will get to heaven or not…
1 John 5:11-13
11 And this is the testimony: that God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son.
12 He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does NOT have life.
13 These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, THAT YOU MAY KNOW that you have eternal life, and that you may continue to believe in the name of the Son of God. -

No, I find racism to be bigotry. Apparently this means this site is not for me as well.

Racism?? Bigotry?? I can only conclude that you believe the Apostle Paul was a racist and bigot for preaching the Gospel to the Jews, or you seriously misunderstand the cartoon. I hope it’s the latter. The issue of godly evangelists in America being treated like domestic terrorists should be a concern for all Christians who desire to reach out to those who don’t know Christ, regardless of race.
-
Comment by Dominic — July 28, 2010 @ 4:08 am
This is not bigotry or racism.
Here in the UK two US citizens were arrested only last year for having the gall (courage, in my book) to attempt to take the Gospel of salvation through Christ alone onto the streets of a particularly Muslim part of Birmingham.
They did nothing offensive, said nothing outrageous, but were arrested anyway because a Muslim PCSO (sort of police) took exception to what they were doing. We don;t have guns in quite such numbers with our police yet as you do in the US, or I expect that your drawing above would be absolutely accurate.

Well…as I said in my original post, the “beast” we have spawned right here in America by abolishing sound Doctrine in the post-modern “goat-pens” and the Apostates in the pulpits, particularly in the “liberal” churches, is certainly making acceptance of any and ALL strange Doctrines and Laws “tolerable”. Look at some of the posts and the complete moral relevancy and Biblical illiteracy expounded in defense of some fleshly “straw-man”.The word “racist” is rapidly becoming farcical,as it is utilized to marginalize and silence any and all opposition without validity. It is rapidly losing any effect and “edge”.

I don’t see any racism in this cartoon. Islam is not a race although it’s adherents do adopt Arabized names. Muslims comprise hundreds of ethic groups and speak hundreds of different languages. The vast majority of Muslims cannot understand Arabic and don’t understand the Arabic prayers they pray or the Koran unless it is translated for them.
-
Comment by Tater2000 — July 28, 2010 @ 8:51 am
The cartoon displays the double standard we’re all seeing on the increase in the western world. The Muslim gets no restrictions to imposing on the rest of us laws that they find in their writings and yet western lawmakers are going out of their way to muzzle the Christian from obeying the Great Commission, (Matthew 28:19)
The cartoon is hardly racist and throwing that word out there is only done because it is convenient instead of having a reasonable disagreement. I’m confused and frustrated at how quickly one could go straight to that very unfair conclusion. -
Comment by Angus — July 28, 2010 @ 9:42 am
Thanks, Tater2000. Yes, I would always appreciate negative feedback if it is couched in a graceful, well-thought-out argument instead of throwing out drive-by inflammatory epithets. Such tactics add little light to an issue and make it difficult for me to understand them or respond properly. But then again, maybe that’s their purpose.

Comment by Tater2000 — July 28, 2010 @ 11:12 am
Well, yeah. Nowhere has anybody explained what exactly is “racist” about this cartoon. Is it a woman in a head scarf? The vocabulary of the police man? What?
No. Broad brush, blanket statement, it’s “bigoted” and “racist”! By all conventions of everybody’s subjective ethics you were supposed to hang your head in shame, apologize, and remove the cartoon. Why? On the express grounds that somebody was “offended”. By what you have no way of knowing. They won’t elaborate. (Personally I think they just didn’t “get it” and played the “race card” quickly and with practiced zeal.)
But apparently, since no further justification is offered, what is offensive about the cartoon is irrelevant. It’s “racist”. How? It’s not the point.
We must all get used to it.
Acts 4:12 “Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is NO OTHER NAME under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.”
THAT is something “bigoted”. The “exclusivity” of Christianity. The notion that a Christian presenting the gospel to someone of ANY other faith, (Romans 10:14-15), is an infringement upon their rights and DESERVES arrest by police and punishment.
Why? Because it’s offensive, (1 Corinthians 1:18-19). It says the Muslim is lost and the Christian is right. What arrogance!
Get used to it. Increasingly we will see that it’s the Christian who’s the bad guy. It’s the Christian who is the close minded bigot and in the way of all of us getting along, (John 16:2, 2 Timothy 4:3-4)
I think the horse is dead now. -
Comment by Glenn Hendrickson — July 28, 2010 @ 3:10 pm
This is funny. But it is so sad that we know this is happening in Dearborn, MI. The police should be the LAST people going after Christians who would spread a message which promotes obeying the law and respect toward government (with the obvious exception of extreme cases of persecution, etc…)

There should be more offended at the fact the policeman called the Christian handing the woman a gospel tract a “dirtbag”! To degrade a Christian for sharing his faith by calling him a “dirbag” is more offensive to me than the fact that the Christian man is handing a muslim woman a tract!
People get offended for the wrong reasons and fight a battle that has no Biblical foundation. They cry “racist” and nobody is talking about someone’s race. They cry “Bigot”, but are not upset the police treat the Christians like they are criminals!
This is why this country is in judgment. People are given over to their own depravity.

Maybe it’s me. But just where in this country are people being approached by cops at gunpoint for passing out pamphlets about the Bible?
And Roger is correct. Nobody KNOWS what it takes to get into Heaven. It is a matter of what one BELIEVES through his or her faith.
-
Comment by Don — July 31, 2010 @ 9:10 am
@Jonathan & Roger So, you hold that there is no such thing as absolute truth? Truth is only in the mind of the beholder? Just wondering.
-
Comment by Carol — July 31, 2010 @ 3:43 pm
“Nobody knows what it takes to get into Heaven” I want to debate this issue, if I may, but if people would read and examine the Bible, God’s Word, it takes saving faith in the Lord Jesus as one’s Savior. That He died for one’s sins and cleansed us and made us new creatures in Christ. It’s not about what one “believes” through one’s own “faith”, as if it’s a matter of picking and choosing truth from the Bible as if it’s a buffet that people can take what they want and disregard the rest. It’s not that way. It’s either believe in ALL of it, or none of it, and the latter is not the wise way, but the wide way, that leads to destruction.
And if you were correct that NOBODY knows what it takes to get into Heaven, then what do we have hope in? Who can we have our hope from? Where can we draw strength and peace in the inner man? If nobody knows what it takes, there would be no guidance for life and the Bible is tossed aside. And who would be the authority on knowing what is acceptable if you don’t measure from the Word of God?
Is there any wonder why the “church” is in such a sad state of affairs? If Spurgeon thought it was so bad in the 1800’s, what would he think of today’s “church”?
This strange belief system of no truth or source of wisdom, is very disturbing.

Comment by SirBrass — July 31, 2010 @ 5:23 pm
This illustration is obviously an exaggeration on actual events. In the actual event, the cops neither pulled their guns, called the Christian a dirtbag, nor screamed at them. They DID arrest them on trumped up charges at an arabic (not explicitly muslim) festival in the US, among other acts of religious bigotry against the Christians.
So yes, there is bigotry exhibited in the illustration. The bigotry is from those who would silence the Christians from spreading the gospel of Christ while at the same time forcing secular humanism down the throats of others and pandering to the demands of Islam. Dhimmitude on the part of the Dearborn police (the cops who did perpetuate the acts of outrage which inspired this very telling and accurate illustration…. accurate as far as telling the truth by exaggerating the details…. that’s what satirical humor does) is what was bigoted about the whole matter.
As far as the post-modern drivel exhibited by others here, I won’t be adding anything here not brought up by other sound believers who have already commented.

Comment by Laura — July 31, 2010 @ 8:42 pm
I found this offensive, too, and I’m trying to figure out why. I think it’s because we Christians can be mighty quick to cry “religious persecution” when it may be just as accurate to say other people find us insensitive or flat-out rude and react accordingly. The kind of image, in which “blameless Christians are just trying to share the gospel,” in my opinion only reinforces our own opinion about our oppression to the detriment of sharing the good news of Jesus Christ.
I really like Off the Map’s approach to evangelism (http://offthemap.com/about-page/) because they are so sensitive to how others perceive us. In so doing, I think we become better evangelists. I highly recommend them.

Comment by Angus — July 31, 2010 @ 11:35 pm
I can’t control how people view the cartoon, but I can ask for the reader to view the cartoon on its own merit instead of bringing their own pet issues into the picture. The cartoon shows a Christian handing out a gospel tract to an unbeliever. He is not forcing it on the Muslim woman or being belligerent; he is simply offering her a testimony of Jesus Christ. The woman can take it or leave it. If this is rude or insensitive or racist, then Stephen, Peter, Paul and the other New Testament Christian leaders were even worse offenders.
Secondly, as citizens of this country, Christians have a right to publicly witness within the guidelines of the law. When Christians are illegally prevented from doing so, then they have a right as citizens to speak out against this injustice for the sake of furthering the gospel in the future. Again, if this behavior is perceived as insensitive or prideful, then Paul’s rebuke of the magistrates for their unlawful actions against him (in Acts 16) was the height of arrogance. (See also Acts 25.)
I would ask, therefore, that people view the cartoon objectively and biblically, and take the word of the artist on its premise. The cartoon is a satirical exaggeration and mostly SYMBOLIC, but is based on real events in Dearborn, Michigan. I have no reason to believe that the real Christians who were arrested during their lawful and peaceful witnessing in Dearborn had any sinful motive in what they did. To define what they did as offensive or insensitive is a sad commentary on how far today’s “political correctness” has undermined our evangelistic efforts and shied us away from using the apostles as our prime example for spreading the Gospel.
Don’t get me wrong: I think it is VERY important to evangelize in a worthy, blameless manner, but there will always be an inherent offense in the Gospel no matter how inoffensively you relay that message. Bottom line: if you have a problem with the simple premise of this cartoon, then I suggest you also have a problem with the acts of the apostles and their glorious, yet difficult message. Sola Scriptura. -

To: kaitlyn & others here.
Please show me in the Scriptures where God tells us that He made more than one race. There is nowhere . . . He made one human race.
We should be defining things for the world around us, instead of using their assumptions as though they are gospel truth. Why not be the thermostats in the surrounding culture, and infect it with the culture of our Lord (Ephesians 6:4 look up “παιδεία” in Strong’s for what culture is about; also, Matthew 28:19-20 the culture Christians are to promote is not “neutral”; additionally, it is not to be on the defensive, but the offensive – note the words of our Lord regarding gates – ever heard of gates that actually “march forward?” Matthew 16:18)? Too many believers are “thermometers” only reading the temperature around them. -

I don’t know, I’ve been mulling over this for a while. After considering this cartoon, the events that surround it, and the various things going on in the US and worldwide with our brothers and sisters in Christ… I actually rejoice to see it. For me I see the scripture vindicated and proved time and again when this happens. I see the promises of God proved true time and again. The athiest can argue, the agnostic can fume, the PC people can pass laws, but here the Word of God is being proven true with each account.
Why do we grow angry and frustrated in shock and surprise when the world does what the Lord said it would do to us? For me it is encouraging and strengthens my faith and resolve. -
Comment by Katie — August 27, 2010 @ 12:49 pm
oh, the Devil must love this: Trying to make us feel guilty for doing what God has asked of us–spreading the Gospel message around the world, for faith in Jesus IS the only way to eternal life.

p.s. Jesus did say we would be persecuted. He didn’t promise it would be easy. Saul persecuted and killed followers of “the Way” until Christ stopped him on the road and blinded him. Saul converted and was later renamed Paul. Yes, the very Paul who wrote the epistles. Refer to Acts 9. This is the very grace that God’s Word talks about.
Romans 3:21-31 -But now a righteousness from God, apart from law, has been made known, to which the Law and the Prophets testify. This righteousness from God comes through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe. There is no difference, for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus. God presented him as a sacrifice of atonement, through faith in his blood. He did this to demonstrate his justice, because in his forbearance he had left the sins committed beforehand unpunished— he did it to demonstrate his justice at the present time, so as to be just and the one who justifies those who have faith in Jesus. Where, then, is boasting? It is excluded. On what principle? On that of observing the law? No, but on that of faith. For we maintain that a man is justified by faith apart from observing the law. Is God the God of Jews only? Is he not the God of Gentiles too? Yes, of Gentiles too, since there is only one God, who will justify the circumcised by faith and the uncircumcised through that same faith. Do we, then, nullify the law by this faith? Not at all! Rather, we uphold the law. (NIV translation from biblegateway.com)
