Always remembered for their hit songs:
“Telecommunication…AKA, Prayer”
“I Ran (So Far Away)…But Couldn’t Hide From You” (that hit number 1 on the Australlian music charts!!)
“(It’s Not Me) Talking…I’m Just Reading The Writing On The Wall”
“Remember David…and Goliath”
and their all time favorite balad “Burnin’ Up…You Don’t Wanna Go There”

They were way bigger than Stryper. Way bigger…

I’m seriously dated but I still don’t get the reference. That looks like a young tow-headed Woldverine back in his metrosexual days. Am I too far off?

I never, never liked seagulls in numbers – and in the church they are just too much…
…and yes, I’m dated

I always wanted to be seriously dated, but I got married instead. No joke…ARRRRRRGH!
I’m afraid it’s too late now.

There must be something wrong. I feel pre-dated!

Pardon me… I feel post-dated!

Sweet. Nice haircut, Flock of Seagulls. I prophesy right now, this haircut is going to come back some day…soon.

What is worse as a youth pastor, I just had a kid show up dressed just like that with the hair…it is back?!!

For all of us who saw the “I Ran” video played over and over on MTV’s advent, did you ever think we’d be using “Flock of Seagulls” and “Youth Pastor” in the same sentence?!
Comment by Carol — May 11, 2010 @ 10:37 am
Actually, that is Rick Warren in his pre Purpose years, sportin’ the strange seagullian look. Alongside him is Rob Bell, Brian Mc Laren and Joel Osteen. They originally called themselves “A Flock of Heretics”, but it just wasn’t a very catchy name for a punk rock band….
Yes, I remember this video, unfortunately, and am ashamed that I actually watched MTV in those early years…

What MTV played music??
Where they the Jonathan Livingstone Seagulls?

Way back when there were actual music videos…on MTV…imagine that…
