The chicken, being an autonomous being, chose to cross the road of his own free will. Because he could.
He also was not interested in becoming a whole fryer!

This is due to the eternal question of “Which came first, the chicken or the egg?” And the heated debate over the Creationists and those who believe that the egg is the symbol of eternal life…
…OR….
The annual “chicken fry” at the Community Baptist Church ended when the last chicken walked off in protest….

At least the chicken was smart enough to not waste his time debating with the Westies. Fortunately when she darted out into traffic one driver swerved onto the curb doing damage to many of the day-glow signs, some signs were critically damaged by tread marks and had to be trashed at the scene.
