We once had a Youth Pastor, but the kids locked him in the trunk of his car. When we finally found and rescued him three days later, he resigned, burned his seminary degree, (a symbolic jesture) and got a real job selling used cars.

I once almost walked out of a church when the “youth pastor” bounded onto the ’stage’ in T-shirt and jeans to lead the service. I should have done, the content was as poor as the respect and the dress sense.

If that is the youth pastor, is Father Time the senior pastor?

  • Comment by LuLu — January 5, 2010 @ 8:54 am

I wonder if the Deacons “body scanned” him for any deadly hidden agenda? I hear the “youth Pastors” hide it in their diapers…

  • Comment by Kevin — January 5, 2010 @ 11:12 am

Having had three children, I don’t want to know what he’s hiding in his diapers. I had enough of that then and still have to change a few Arminian diapers even now.

I recall of a youth pastor who had the mentality of a baby. At a youth gathering, he had the kids make “their most disgusting sound with their body”….and this is what the parents fork over money to send their teens to be entertained by?

I’ve read where a youth group leader had teens put diapers on…as though this does something to edify saints??

But then you will have those who think that infantile youth group leaders are “relevant” and this reaches a demographic that desperately needs to be entertained by lame church groups.

This is the post modern church for ya…

    Carol,
Good to have your scathing reviews of “relevant, seeker sensitive, entertainment driven” American “churchianity” back on the comments board. ;)

Just disturbed that so many of the churches have used “relevancy” as a means to perpetuate carnality, when we really need to return to purity and holiness.

I hear you Carol, it was in jest. I’ve just noticed that the majority of your conmments contain the same type of content and adjectives for these posts. We know how you feel about these churches, now why not tell us what you are doing about it? I’m asking this to edify, not tear down.

What can one person do against a system? We are so close to the end of days that it cannot be “fixed” by someone trying to “do” anything. Only when Jesus returns can there be true restoration to the way it is supposed to be.

Not many in the “church” system has ears to hear the Lord, much less one woman! People are so caught up in their own programs and ideas that they don’t include God in them any longer. They just do their “thing” and ask God to bless it.

They cling to their little special groups and think this is what God wants for His church.

So many want to tell others how to do “things” for God, but not many step outside their own little circles of interest to really see things as they are. Not many step outside of their programs…

Your name came up yesterday at lunch while I was eating alphabet soup and this morning I saw your face on a milk carton.
Now I am beginning to get concerned.

What’s happened to this site? The articles are few and far between and even the captions are getting the same way….

    I miss the old sandwich….

    Carol,
Has it occured to you that the authors of this site may be busy in their day to day lives? I enjoy this site as much as you do and check it every day, but I can see that there are times where the staff may be busy. Remember the old Samwich? that one was not updated for a year (I think).

Also, concerning your response to my comment above, if you don’t feel as though you can do anything about the current condition of the American church, I don’t see how constantly pointing out what is wrong with it is helpful. We get how you feel, but what I don’t get is how negative (bitter?) your tone is. It should grieve us when the gospel is obscured by humanism (Ps 119:136,158), but our response should not be constant griping and complaining. If I have you pegged wrong, forgive me, but this is how the majority of your posts come across. I make cracks about the posts now and then, but I can do so with a bit of humor as well.

I believe that “revelancy” is falling into what Hollywood and the Left wants us to do and think! If we constantly ape their music, “style,” fads, etc. we enable them to have even more power over our minds. We should take every thought captive to the supremacy of Christ and fight the system as faithful servants no matter the “Age is.

I will give two examples of ape-like menatlity: “Eco-Green, Man-caused Global Warming” and “Evolution.” Too many in the church have rolled-over and played dead to both of these hoaxes. It is always harder to learn the truth, go against the stream, and fight the good fight (oh politically incorrect to mention fighting).
