I’m a pastor… can’t quite decide if I should put this great and accurate graphic up on the big screen or not…

All in good fun, Gary. I say God bless the Church’s pastors for their difficult service, both caffeinated and decaffeinated.

He was also seen inhaling some donuts…or were they sweet rolls?
Hmmmmm Why don’t they give us some of those instead of those budget Little Debbie snacks???

why doesn’t he support local enterprise?

Is that the road to redemption they are on?

  • Comment by John — September 1, 2009 @ 9:01 am

Btw, I submitted that last post “sheepishly” because I didn’t want to “ram” it down anyone’s throat, because it would be wrong to “butt heads” about it!
Sorry, I had to add that just for the “shear” enjoyment of it, not to try and get anyone’s “goat”.
So please don’t try to track me down, because a life lived “on the lamb” is hardly a purpose driven life.

The Starbucks thing is very funny. Sadly in most cases, those Pastors need not go far since the Starbucks/coffee bar is set up in the foyer of the church.

Blast you, Michael- you beat me to it! I had that very same thought.

Well, we are the sheep of “His” (Christ) pasture. We shouldn’t be following anyone else.

  • Comment by Carol — September 1, 2009 @ 9:22 pm

If Starbucks is the focus, I’m certain the road those lost sheep are is the wide road to destruction, and many will find it.

But it’s not too late that they hear the voice of the True Shepherd and be drawn on the right road.

Sad thing to think that a church can have a “Starbucks” in their foyer…

  • Comment by Nabal Ben-Nimrod — September 2, 2009 @ 2:03 am

It is sad, Starbucks is sooo 2005…

  • Comment by Marlo — September 2, 2009 @ 8:03 am

Cartoon is funny :) To some of the comments about having a starbucks in the foyer as ’sad’…if it gives people a way to fellowship before and after church I don’t really see the issue *shrug* If it is something familiar and perhaps makes someone who is unreached feel more comfortable coming to church and hanging out then I say good stuff.

In an effort to be ‘relevant’ the hireling once again forgets about the sheep to carouse with the goats. And, as the sheep can attest by their walk and the second sheep’s vision of the one they call ‘pastor’, their earthly leader is far from the narrow road.

I put this on Facebook. Wonder what my pastor will say.

  • Comment by LuLu — September 4, 2009 @ 7:21 pm

Ah,yes…we must provide the unsaved some solace in the church building. Nothing like drinking Starbuck’s in the lobby with the Pastor to reveal the Truth of the Word…is that with or without fat-free milk?

  • Comment by Eddie Eddings — September 5, 2009 @ 3:45 pm

    Ewe are something else!

  • Comment by Carol — September 6, 2009 @ 8:44 pm

There is a problem because “Church” is supposed to be for the saved…worship of God is for those who are saved. Unsaved people can’t worship God. There is a place to evangelize, but it should NOT be during a worship service. This is one of the many problems with “church”. They are trying to appeal to unsaved or “unchurched” people and they are using carnal gimmicks to amuse and attract them.

Did Peter and Paul attract people to church in the early church days with “fish tales”? Did they have manly fisherman’s church??
Did they mime? Did they juggle fish?

You cannot bring Egypt into the Promised Land.

  • Comment by Bob — September 7, 2009 @ 9:45 am

Carol, you are right. Too frequently we hear the cry “You gotta get them to church to get them saved.” Well, salvation is God’s province not mans. The church is to worship and be fed spiritually. The unsaved cannot, indeed do not desire to, worship. Thanks for a sensible comment.

I assume the pastor is sneaking out of the church for coffee and he has a very good reason for it, have you ever seen a sheep on caffiene?
