Carol- A good word, I should have mentioned this when I posted, but I was being sarcastic, particularly with the 3 John reference, which is the tradiotional "go to" verse of the Word of faith movement (read eiesegesis)- again, this was more than likely immature of me, especially to trouble your spirit unnecessarily- forgive me. For what it's worth, I am part of a biblical fellowship that upholds the authority of scripture and necessity of biblical sanctification.
My apologies,
Joe

Stop with that "judgmental" thing! I'm as tired of the soapbox defenders of being "non judgmental" as they are of us who speak the truth in love.

We are to judge a tree by it's fruit. How are we going to know how to discern if we don't examine their fruit?

I've been in enough churches to see that the lack of Biblical knowledge and making time for the Word of God is non existant. People want an easy believism Creator who loves them as they are, forgives them even when they intentionally sin and think that grace is a "get out of jail" card. They want to be happy, healthy, wealthy and popular, but they don't want the burden of carrying their own "cross".

A great indication why so many of the denominations and the churches are falling for the wind of doctrines that are blowing from pagan and Eastern religions. They don't know God's Word well enough to know that it's an abomination to mix false religious practices with their sad attempts at worship of God.

We leave our spiritually starved brothers and sisters while we live off the fill in the blank Beth Moore type of Bible study, but picking up the Word of God and praying for God to teach them is all it takes. They make time to read the newspaper and those pathetic self help books from Warren, Osteen, Joyce Meyer and such...

Before you tell us we are being "judgmental", maybe you need to spend more time examining the Word of God for yourself. You'll be amazed what the Holy Spirit can teach a willing saint.

It reminds me of Christians who are willing to pay for a latte' a day, but won't shell out the bucks to buy a good Bible study and get down to it with others who want to go deep. Their excuse always is: "It's too expensive!" Usually followed by: "That study is too hard!"

Straining gnats or swallowing camels?

The lost gospel of Self-Indulgence reminds us "We've only one life, so we must grab the gusto."

If we know that our neighbors are having a rough time financially, and yet we stuff our own faces with our big feasts, it tells me how "Fattened" the sheeple have become.

It also reminds me spiritually speaking with the "know it all" type of Christian who stands on their soapbox and boasts of all they know, yet don't have time to have a Bible study for those who are new believers or new people in the church....

Hmmmm

"...and I said to myself,...'Self,if Kenneth Copeland has two Leer Jets and a helicopter and Juanita Bynum has a gold-lined prayer closet and a lake-side estate, why should I not have the same?' And the Word/Faith evangelist answered,"...'Plant your best seed and all these things shall be added unto you'.". 1 Heresies 1:1-2
