I had a subscription to Highlights for years when I was a kid. Goofus and Gallant was the first thing I would look for. Then the drawings kids sent in. I would look at how much better kids my age were at drawing. I remember being shamed when my sister corrected my pronunciation of “Gallant”. I said it how it looks: “Gal-Ant”. She said it was “Gall-Ahnt”. Whatever sis.
