Each could learn something from the other.

Unfortunately, cool, soothing language disappears in the harsh reality of judgment before the throne of God and the sweetness of candy becomes bitter with the reality of eternity spent in Hell. Only the Gospel message as taught in the Bible is able to bring us to the saving knowledge of God.

When you think about it….preaching the Gospel is the way of true tolerance. One does not have to entertain and/or debate false teaching. Doing that does not make us tolerant, it makes us fools.

The Gospel is cruel where sin is concerned, because it doesn’t beat around the bush about what the results will be. I’d rather be Fundy any day, because people need to be rescued from the death that sin brings, and how could they be rescued without hearing the Gospel?
Bob: very well put!

All very good points. I’d rather be “fundy” and walk the straight and narrow and go to glory, than be “tolerant” and go the wide way to destruction!

That is HILARIOUS, I am still laughing! I always had a soft spot in my heart for Goofus.

Hey! Where’s Rick Warren?
Comment by Angus — June 15, 2009 @ 9:43 pm
Rick Warren? Ding-ding-ding. We have a winner!
Comments just wouldn’t be the same without a Warren non sequitur. Thank you, dangerTIM.

That page portrays “Fundy” as “Mental”…
Think about it.

I had a subscription to Highlights for years when I was a kid. Goofus and Gallant was the first thing I would look for. Then the drawings kids sent in. I would look at how much better kids my age were at drawing. I remember being shamed when my sister corrected my pronunciation of “Gallant”. I said it how it looks: “Gal-Ant”. She said it was “Gall-Ahnt”. Whatever sis.

Oh, that we may be faithful “Fundies”!(The first time I read this I thought it said “Fuddy”,as in “fuddy-duddy”…also,not a bad thing.)

This is great humor. Who says fundies can’t laugh?

This is awesome. My mom always said that I was Gallant and my brother was Goofus.
