(Watching with amusement as Princess Bride references continue to trickle in.)

Westley: I told you I would always come for you. Why didn’t you wait for me?
Buttercup: Well… you were dead.
Westley: Death cannot stop true love. All it can do is delay it for a while.
(Oh, no. This could be the text for next year’s seeker sensitive Easter message.)

“You know how much I like to watch you work, but I have a gospel to twist, a service to make relevant, a church to destroy, and the world to blame for it. I’m swamped.”

As I posted on the “Opie Conspiracy” thread- I’m 27 years old, what is ths “Princess Bride” spoof you speak of?
Comment by John — June 24, 2009 @ 10:33 pm

“Do you think it’ll work?”
“It would take a miracle!”

I wonder how he works the Cliffs of Insanity into his sermons.
Comment by Brian — June 25, 2009 @ 6:38 am
Kyle, wouldn’t that be “Wick Wawwen”?
Comment by john — June 25, 2009 @ 9:10 am
yes, but this only works if your congregation is only “mostly dead”. If they are all dead, there’s only one thing to do: go through the offering plates and get their loose change (because thats all they’ll put in)

Next months feature film will be, “Robinhood, Men in Tights”. I can’t wait.

Pastor: “Let me explain…
No, it’ll take too long.
Let me sum up…”
Comment by Les — June 25, 2009 @ 10:56 am
In retrospect, I realize the pastor doesn’t need to work in the Cliffs of Insanity, many sermons have already driven me there.

When I first saw the picture on the screen,I thought they were the Barbarians from the ,”…What’s in YOUR wallet?…” credit card commercial! Extreme ignorance on my part,(I have no idea what”The Princess Bride”is),however, you must admit, not beyond the realm of possibilities in today’s “church”.

Hey, what is that robe thingy he is wearing?
Where is the shirt from Honolulu Ricky sent him?
Comment by Jim V — June 26, 2009 @ 9:18 am
Perhaps if the pastor preached wearing that nifty black headscarf and mask…. “The Dread Pastor ________”
Comment by Carol — June 26, 2009 @ 4:39 pm
Wait until they do the “Pirates of The Carribean” series. The pastor/pirate will dress with eye patch and tell of the sins of saying “Arrgggg” too many times…..
Church tv for the spiritually impaired….well, why bother to get up and go to church? Why not have a home version of this? With RIck Warren as master of ceremonies…?
Comment by Carol — June 26, 2009 @ 4:41 pm
I Don’t know Princess Bride, perhaps that’s a bit outdated. This man needs to get with it and show a film that’s recent..and I don’t know of any off hand. I try not to fill my head with useless knowledge as what’s showing…
Comment by Les — June 26, 2009 @ 11:21 pm
Members of the church smelled an R.U.S. when they saw the new projector screen installed.

You keep preaching that Word… I do not think it means what you think it means.
