An urgent TRUTH for U.S. (us)!
Comment by Jim Duval — May 7, 2009 @ 6:32 am
Perhaps you could somehow add “Canada” to that request. Thanks.
Comment by J.R. Spencer — May 7, 2009 @ 8:08 am
It’s the only real “hope” that the US has.
Comment by Tyler — May 7, 2009 @ 8:31 am
Pray for the “terminally ill”…

Mr. Duval,
Unfortunately we cannot add Canada to our list. We in America think that we have covenantal promises that belong only to us. If we will humble ourselves and pray then our land of fruited plains will be healed, our 401K’s will be replenished, and our megachurches will be able to purchase the equipment needed to broadcast their services in full HD. Perhaps your country may enjoy the view of our blessings from the other side of the scenic Niagra Falls.
If you would like, please request to be added to our list and we may send missionaries over to start Backyard Bible Studies. You do have Weber grills in Canada, don’t you?
Hopefully no one asks us to pray for Mexico. You only have to listen to right wing radio to realize that such a request is just out of the question.
I shall now return to listening to my good ole’ country music combining veiled references to Christianity with such things as drinking beer in barns and waking up married to a hung-over Carrie Underwood.
Thanks for asking though!

Angus,
I love mountie, eh!

Amen to that! We need to pray for the whole world, not just America, but this is a good starting place. Never mind that we’re not “officially” recognizing the event any more.

Are we talking serious prayer that removes all carnality, all greed and gossip, ridiculous entertainment and watered-down messages? And that’s for those who call themselves “Christians”… When the church people aren’t where they should be, how can we expect the “unsaved” and unbelievers of our country to repent from “their wicked ways”?
In years past there has been a generic effort to have a “national day of prayer”, but when we have carnal “leaders” like Rick Warren and Joel Osteen or other such false teachers speaking for all of “Christendom”, how can we expect our prayers to reach God?
Before we can expect the nation and world to change, it begins with the children of God to repent from their fleshly ways!
Until the megachurches dissolve and become smaller and real assemblies, until the hype of word faith becomes a distant memory, and until people are willing to humble themselves under the mighty hand of God, we are just talking dribble!
We must examine our own lives and repent from our own sinfulness before we can expect those who never knew God and never experienced the life changing power of the Blood of the Lamb of God, the Lord Jesus Christ, to change!
It’s time of true humility before a Holy God!
I know I’m nothing without Him, and cannot change without His guidance.
To truly bow the knee before our Maker to intercede for others, we must be willing to put to death the carnality in ourselves.

I don’t mean to sound self-righteous, but shouldn’t every day be a day of prayer? Just a thought.
Comment by Angus — May 7, 2009 @ 4:54 pm
Yep. Amen, John.

Why is no one commenting on President Obama’s decision to snub the national prayer breakfast? I’m not surprised, just disappointed that his true stripes are showing through so quickly. I thought he’d at least pretend to care about regular Americans for a little while.

Can we pray in Jesus name this year? Tex, that was great! And spot on.

Amen to what John, Carol, J.R. Spence, Tyler, Angus, and Steve wrote. At least they include Canada. Some how some of the folks forget that all of it belongs to God, and He will be worshiped by all nations when He has judged the world for their wickedness and unrepentant attitude.

God’s Word guides the Christian and His Spirit “officially” prompts and enables us to pray – not the limits of any day or body on this earth.
Take a good look at the picture – God help us the day we are ordered by our government to do so! I value my free choice, don’t you?

AMEN, AMEN and AMEN!!!!
What Carol said…and the others.
Many American Christians have been influenced by the world and not the other way around, but this is a day late and a dollar shor. We can not change prophecy about the last days, but WE can change OUR ways.
Most on here, I perceive, are solid Christians, but many around us are not and we need to influence them and get them to understand about eternal things and not the temporal.
One pastor I spoke to was telling me about another pastor with a “big” church who is a sponser for an every Wednesday evening secular “Battle of the Bands” and then goes on stage to preach the Gospel. Yeah…I wonder how that is working for him. But I was told that is why he has the biggest church in the area.
To stupid to understand that they are attending his church because of his compromise with the world and not to hear what ever form of Gospel he preaches.
The great falling away, folks…just make sure you are not!
