If I could arrange a meeting between Mr.Spurgeon and Rick Warren…and then publish the dialogue…!!

Dialog… That would imply that BOTH men would be speaking. And that Mr. Warren would actually have something to say to Mr. Spurgeon.

Rick would ask Mr.Spurgeon if he knew that God had a “purpose” for his life…and then try and get Mr.Spurgeon to sign a contract…DOH!

I’m afraid that Rick Warren would be put to shame by Mr. Spurgeon for Spurgeon would point out the Biblical truths in such a manner that Rick would be speechless. Rick’s dribble would truly be heard for what it is, dribble, alongside Spurgeon’s recitations of truth.

Indeed, I would love to hear “dialogue” between Rick Warren and the Apostle Paul! There would be no time for dribble…for Paul would tell it like it is.

If Jesus is NOT the focal point of an assembly of saints, and God’s Word not preached, why bother to gather together on a Sunday morning? Why call it Christian and why call it church?

If nothing else, Warren would offer Spurgeon a cup of coffee and invite him to the “basketball ministry” game.

Seriously, Rick Warren does not listen to Jesus Christ, what makes you think talking to Spurgeon would do any good?

    Luke 16:27-31

27 And he said, ‘Then I beg you, father, to send him to my father’s house— 28 for I have five brothers [7]—so that he may warn them, lest they also come into this place of torment.’ 29 But Abraham said, ‘They have Moses and the Prophets; let them hear them.’ 30 And he said, ‘No, father Abraham, but if someone goes to them from the dead, they will repent.’ 31 He said to him, ‘If they do not hear Moses and the Prophets, neither will they be convinced if someone should rise from the dead.’”

I say this, if Spurgeon came back from the dead, and Warren has all of scripture but will not listen to it… he would not even welcome Spurgeon if he knows a little of his theology…

I bet Spurgeon and Rick Warren would have a lot in common.

Apparently some of you think that Spurgeon is coming back from the dead riding upon a white horse, with a white suit and white hair, smoking a white cigar…

  • Comment by Tyler — April 19, 2009 @ 7:52 am

John T Meche…Spurgeon is coming back with one who has a white robe sitting on a white horse, and written on that robe is the KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS.

I guess you could say, yes he is coming…

What kind of a man denies the statements his own mouth makes, even when those statements are recorded? What sort of “Pastor” agrees to compromise with sinful, and apostate systems, and openly embraces some, for the sake of promoting his”Hubris-Driven”agenda? Who would be blaphemous enough to prostitute a baptism service as an opportunity to get a picture taken with him and parellel the experience of his ministry anniversary to Penecost?…Should we even mention this lunatics name in the same sentence as Spurgeon,a fire-trialed man of God?

  • Comment by Angus — April 19, 2009 @ 9:26 am

Okay, okay. When did this become about Warren? Or Spurgeon for that matter? Read Spurgeon’s first and last words (in the next post) at the Tabernacle to see on Whom we should be focusing: Jesus Christ! Amen?

I had the privilege of being in London once and attending a worship service at the Metropolitan Tabernacle. To my delight, the service was all about Spurgeon’s Christ. Dr. Peter Masters never mentioned CHS in his sermon, and there was nothing in the building that I saw with Spurgeon’s name on it. Mr. Surrgeon would not have had it any other way.

What bothers me most is not Rick Warren. It’s how many pastors and lay people have opted speak on so many other (church?) issues and have either put Jesus Christ on the back burner or have taken up the cause of a different Jesus and a different gospel.
