It was certainly the best choice. The Bible contains the weightiest issues of all time!

Better he holds it rather than sets it up on a shelf, from whence it might fall and crush him to powder (Matt 21:44).

I hope it was used a bunch. Otherwise the dust collecting could have wiped out a large town if a big wind whipped over it. Maybe, it was unused bibles like that to cause the dust bowl of the Great Depression.

That must be one of the LARGE PRINT bibles like my grandma used to have. Each page was like a billboard sign.

Yes and from the indication of the age of the picture, I could see that it would have been well used, they lived a simple life, and that folks these days don’t have a BIG family Bible, they just use their Bible on DVD narrated by Chuck Heston!
Or..folks these days are too interested in reading “Your Best Life Now” or Purpose Driven Life than a Bible..esp one that required strong upper body strength to hold one open and read from it!

They look like my grandparents on my dad’s side, but I know it can’t be them, they were Catholic and Bible just gathered dust.

And they probably “sang out” what they held to be true:”…Standing on the promises of Christ my King, thru eternal ages let His praises ring; glory in the highest I will shout and sing, standing on the promises of God…”.
