Angus, for the record, I believe in salvation by works…and righteouness by works also. Just not mine…His. It’s through the works and righteousness of the Lord Jesus Christ that I inherit His Kingdom. Did it ever occur to you that Jesus NEVER did anything by faith? Yet He gave me the faith to believe.

Nicely put, Eddie. A gentleman at my church who was raised catholic and later born-again (That’s Bob, for your Heritage folks counting) has said somethign similar to the “I’m saved by works….His.” as well.

Eddie, It is an interesting way to put it, but you might want to be careful. Bible scripture still states that Salvation is by faith alone. ( The faith of the Lord Jesus?). Revelation 19 refers to…the one sitting on a white horse as Faithful and True,..
Rather than saying,” inherit His Kingdom”, suffice it to say
His blood sacrifice paid for our sins.

No, salvation isn’t by the faith of Jesus, it is by our faith IN Jesus. Our works are as filthy rags, so it isn’t our works that save us, contrary to some false faiths’ claims. Our works are the outward demonstration of our faith.

Eddie…Jesus did everything by Faith! I would dare say that going to the cross to be crucified without faith is akin to jumping out of a plane without a parachute…!

    “The righteous live by faith”…

Jesus did have faith, that the Father would raise Him from the dead! It’s His works and His faith. He did it all!

    Matthew 21:28-32

    Parable of Two Sons
28″But what do you think? A man had two sons, and he came to the first and said, ‘Son, go work today in the (A)vineyard.’
29″And he answered, ‘I will not’; but afterward he regretted it and went.

30″The man came to the second and said the same thing; and he answered, ‘I will, sir’; but he did not go.

31″Which of the two did the will of his father?” They said, “The first.” Jesus said to them, “Truly I say to you that (B)the tax collectors and prostitutes will get into the kingdom of God before you.

32″For John came to you in the way of righteousness and you did not believe him; but (C)the tax collectors and prostitutes did believe him; and you, seeing this, did not even feel remorse afterward so as to believe him.

So the jerk’s righteousness side represents those Calvinist jerks, right? You know the ones that say God’s a monster who only saves lottery winners and you ain’t one so go to hell, loser!
